Chief Deputy C. Scott Harris, Jr. commands the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department's Administrative Services. This Service Area includes Administration Division, Technical Services Division; Training, Planning and Research Division. Chief Harris is a 29 year veteran of the Sheriff's Department. During that time he has had assignments in Patrol, Corrections (Main Jail and Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center ), Courthouse, Detectives, Narcotics, Community Resources (Relations), Training and Reserve Forces and Administration. Chief Harris has rose through the ranks to become the first African American in the history of the Department to be promoted to Lieutenant, then Captain, and now appointed to the position of Chief Deputy.
Chief Harris was born in Hollywood , Florida on May 25, 1955. He is a graduate of Elk Grove High School , Class of 1973. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from University of California at Davis and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Northern California Lorenzo Patino School of Law. He holds a California lifetime teaching credential in Police Science from California State University at Sacramento and is a part-time faculty member/instructor for the Los Rios Community College District
Chief Harris is a graduate at the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy in Quantico , Virginia . He has two Unit Citations and has received numerous letters of commendation and/or appreciation from superiors, members of the community and the Sacramento Board of Supervisors.
Chief Harris lives in South Sacramento County with wife Susanne. They have five children- Lorin, Justin, Brandi, Ryan, and Jacob. |
